Good Therapist Inc. Terms of Use
Last Updated: March, 2026
By accessing or using the Good Therapist platform (the “Platform”), or by clicking “I Agree” (or similar electronic acceptance), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the “Terms of Use”), as well as our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information.
Good Therapist Inc. (“Good Therapist”, “we”, “us”, “our”) provides a secure online platform that enables individuals (“Clients”, “you”) to book and attend virtual mental health therapy sessions with independent, regulated mental health clinicians (each a “Clinician”) through secure video technology (each a “Session”). Good Therapist’s Platform may be accessible through a web browser and/or mobile application.
You will be asked to accept these Terms of Use as part of account registration and/or prior to booking. If you do not wish to be bound by these Terms of Use, do not access or use the Platform.
Before using the Platform, you must read and complete any consent notification presented to you, including informed consent regarding the risks and limitations of virtual care.
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. If we do, we will post the updated Terms and revise the “Last Updated” date. Where appropriate, we may notify you through the Platform or by email. You will be deemed to have accepted the amended Terms if you continue to use the Platform after updates take effect.
1. Access to the Platform
Subject to these Terms of Use, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Platform solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and only to access Sessions and related Platform features.
We may suspend your access to the Platform or terminate your account if your use violates these Terms of Use or if required for security, legal compliance, or platform integrity.
We may withdraw, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Platform at any time, including in circumstances beyond our reasonable control (such as outages, security incidents, vendor failures, or other events that affect Platform availability). If this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to restore services and minimize disruption.
2. Nature of Services and Virtual Care Limitations
A) Virtual mental health therapy sessions
The Platform enables you to access virtual mental health therapy services provided by independent Clinicians. Sessions may occur by video (and if offered, other secure modalities).
Clinicians providing services through the Platform are required to be duly registered and in good standing with their applicable regulatory body. Clinicians may only provide services where legally permitted and within their scope of practice.
During a Session, you and your Clinician may discuss mental health concerns, personal history, and goals. Your Clinician may use professional judgment to provide therapy services, recommendations, referrals, or follow-up planning.
B) Risks and limitations of virtual care
Virtual care may involve limitations and risks, including:
1. Sessions depend on internet connectivity and may be affected by disruptions, delays, or degraded audio/video quality.
2. Certain conditions or circumstances may not be appropriate for virtual therapy, and your Clinician may recommend in-person or alternative services.
3. Your Clinician may not have access to your full medical history or records unless you provide them, which may affect assessment and care.
4. While we implement safeguards, electronic communications carry privacy and security risks.
C) Not for emergencies
The Platform is not intended to be used for emergencies and must not be used for urgent crisis situations. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. In Canada, you can also call or text 9-8-8 for 24/7 crisis support.
D) Platform vs Clinician responsibilities
GOOD THERAPIST PROVIDES THE PLATFORM AND RELATED TECHNOLOGY THAT CONNECTS YOU WITH INDEPENDENT CLINICIANS. CLINICIANS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO YOU, INCLUDING CLINICAL ASSESSMENT, THERAPEUTIC APPROACH, DOCUMENTATION, AND CLINICAL DECISION-MAKING. GOOD THERAPIST DOES NOT SUPERVISE, DIRECT, OR CONTROL CLINICAL SERVICES OR THE PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENT OF CLINICIANS.
3. Geographic availability and eligibility
Good Therapist currently operates in certain Canadian provinces (initially British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) and intends to expand across Canada. Availability may vary based on Clinician licensure and applicable laws.
You are responsible for ensuring that you are located in a jurisdiction where the relevant Session is legally permitted at the time of booking and attending.
4. Accounts and eligibility
A) Account registration
To use the Platform, you must create an account (“Account”). You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it updated.
You must not transfer, sell, or allow others to use your Account. You are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your Account.
B) Age and minors
The Platform is intended for individuals aged 12 years and older. Clients aged 12-15 require parent or guardian consent to access therapy services and may need support from a parent or guardian to set up accounts, appointments, and communications.
Clients aged 16 and older may access services independently if they are considered capable of providing consent under the laws of their province or territory, or are otherwise legally able to consent to therapy services.
5. Privacy and communications
By using the Platform, you acknowledge that we collect and use certain personal information, including potentially sensitive information, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may send you communications related to your use of the Platform, including appointment reminders, administrative notices, receipts, security notices, and service-related updates.
We will send communications containing sensitive personal health information through the secure Platform or secure systems where feasible. In limited circumstances (for example, where necessary for safety or to deliver services), we may contact you through other channels using minimal information and directing you back to the Platform.
6. Appropriate use of the Platform
A) Prohibited activities
Your use of the Platform must comply with applicable laws. You agree not to:
- misuse the Platform, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer, or interfere with Platform security;
- upload or transmit viruses or malicious code;
- harass, threaten, defame, discriminate against, or abuse any person;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity;
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;
- scrape, harvest, or collect information from the Platform without authorization.
You agree that you will not record, reproduce, or distribute any Sessions in any manner without the prior written authorization of Good Therapist and the Clinician, as applicable.
We may investigate potential violations and may suspend or terminate your Account.
B) Respectful conduct
You agree to communicate respectfully with Clinicians and staff. Abuse, harassment, discriminatory language, or threatening behaviour may result in immediate suspension or termination.
7. Fees, payment method requirement, and billing
A) Fees
Session fees are displayed at booking. Current standard fees (unless otherwise posted) are:
- $175 CAD for a 50-minute individual session with an RSW, RP, RCT, or RCC

B) Payment method requirement and authorization

By providing payment details, you authorize Good Therapist to charge your payment method on file for:
- session fees,

and any other amounts owed under these Terms and posted policies.
C) Payments through the Platform only
You agree not to pay Clinicians directly for Sessions booked through the Platform, unless explicitly authorized by Good Therapist in writing.
D) Refunds and disputes
Refunds, if any, are handled in accordance with our posted policies and applicable law. If you dispute a charge, you agree to contact us promptly so we can investigate.
8. Cancellations and no-shows
You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before the scheduled Session without penalty.
If you cancel within 24 hours of the Session start time, you will be charged a $100 CAD late cancellation fee.
If you do not attend a scheduled Session (no-show), you will be charged a $150 CAD no-show fee.
These fees reflect Clinician time reserved for you and are generally not eligible for insurance reimbursement.
9. Quality concerns and complaints
If you have a concern about the Platform (technical, billing, or administrative), contact us at hello@goodtherapist.ca.
If you have a concern about a Clinician’s professional services, you may contact us and/or the Clinician’s regulatory body. Any dispute about clinical services is between you and the Clinician, and not with Good Therapist, except to the extent Good Therapist has obligations under applicable consumer or platform laws.
10. Third-party links and third-party information
The Platform may include links to third-party websites or services. We do not control such third-party sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Use them at your own risk.
Any third-party content is provided “as is” for convenience and does not constitute professional advice by Good Therapist.
11. Intellectual property
The Platform, including its software, design, text, images, trademarks, and other content (excluding user-provided content), is owned by or licensed to Good Therapist and is protected by intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Platform or content without our prior written consent.
12. Termination and account closure
We may suspend or terminate your Account for breach of these Terms, suspected misuse, legal compliance, or security reasons.
You may request closure of your Account where that functionality is made available. Account closure may be subject to:
- resolution of outstanding disputes,
- payment of any outstanding amounts,
- record retention and legal requirements.
We may retain or delete information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
13. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Good Therapist does not guarantee uninterrupted service or any specific therapeutic outcome.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Good Therapist Inc., its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of income, business interruption, or loss of opportunity, arising out of or related to the use of the Platform or services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Good Therapist’s total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Platform or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) CAD $500, or (b) the total amount paid by you to Good Therapist in the six (6) months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
15. Connectivity
Good Therapist is not liable for delays, interruptions, service failures, or problems inherent in internet communications or systems outside our reasonable control.
16. General
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Good Therapist regarding your use of the Platform.
If any provision is found unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in force.
Failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
We may provide notices by email, through the Platform, or by posting updates.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute will be brought in the courts located in Calgary, Alberta, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
