“I appreciate that GoodTherapist prioritizes quality over volume. The onboarding is intentional, the client experience is well-designed, and the support team genuinely cares. It feels like being part of a growing community rather than just another listing on a directory.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How does compensation work, and is there any cost to join?

There is no cost to join Good Therapist. We operate on a revenue-share model — you’re only paid when you see clients.

Therapists earn starting at $100 per session, depending on session type and experience. You are paid every two weeks for completed sessions, regardless of when insurance payments are received. We handle billing, direct insurance claims, client payments, and collections so you don’t have to.

Will I get clients, or do I need to market myself?

Good Therapist handles marketing and client acquisition, so clients can find and book you through the platform. You’re not required to advertise or build a website. We do encourage therapists to share their profile within their communities, as referrals often grow your caseload more quickly.

What are the expectations around availability, caseload, or accepting clients?

Good Therapist is designed to be flexible. You choose:

● When you work
● How many clients you see
● Whether you practice part-time or full-time

Some therapists see just a few clients per week, while others build a full caseload. You can adjust availability anytime.

Can I pause, adjust my availability, or leave the platform at any time?

Yes. You have full control over your schedule and participation. You can:

● Adjust availability anytime
● Take breaks from accepting new clients
● Leave the platform whenever you choose

There are no long-term commitments.

How quickly can I start seeing clients?

Once your application is approved and your profile is live, you can begin seeing clients as soon as you open availability — often within days.

Do I set my own rates?

Rates are set by Good Therapist to ensure consistency, accessibility, and smooth insurance billing. This allows you to focus on care rather than pricing, negotiations, or collections — and ensures predictable, reliable pay.

Do I need my own private practice or liability insurance to join?

You do not need to already have a private practice to join Good Therapist. Therapists are responsible for maintaining active licensure in their province and professional liability insurance, which most therapists already carry through their college or association.

What kind of support does Good Therapist provide for scheduling, client questions, or platform issues?

We provide client-facing administrative support, including:

● Scheduling assistance
● Intake coordination
● Billing and insurance questions
● Platform support

This allows you to focus on therapy instead of administrative work.

Is this virtual only?

Yes. Good Therapist is a fully virtual platform, allowing you to work from anywhere within your licensed provinces.

Can I work with Good Therapist while keeping my full-time job?

Absolutely. Many therapists use Good Therapist to:

● Supplement income
● Build a private caseload gradually
● Test private practice without risk

You decide how it fits into your life.

Who owns the client relationship?

You maintain the therapeutic relationship with your clients.
Good Therapist provides the platform, infrastructure, and support to make that relationship sustainable and smooth.

What makes Good Therapist different from other platforms?

Good Therapist is designed specifically for therapists who want autonomy without isolation. We combine:

● Predictable pay
● Administrative relief
● Flexibility and independence
● A supportive, clinician-first model

It’s private practice — without doing it alone.
